Car Rental Las Vegas

Las Vegas wasn't always the flashy entertainment capital of the world that it is today. The name of the city translates to "the meadows,” which is all it was back in the 1800's when it was scouted by a European explorer by the name of Rafael Rivera. Rivera named the valley after its lush spring-watered grasses in the middle of an otherwise barren desert. Of course, those meadows were later replaced with buildings, miles of concrete, and amusement rides. The neon oasis serves as a true testament to the free spirit of the wild West.

It seems that in a town as free and accepting as this one, even the weather is in your favor. Pack your bags for sunny days and warm nights. Budget car rental has an assortment of vehicles, including convertibles and SUV rentals, to suit your needs in the Nevada heat. Stop by any of our Budget car rental locations in Nevada, including one at the McCarran Airport, for a cheap car rental.

If Las Vegas is the starting point for your next road trip, pick up an affordable long-term car rental from our shop on Tropicana Avenue. Take a drive through the brilliant red canyon or get your boots dirty with a hike.

Las Vegas Travel FAQs

The speed limit on the Las Vegas Strip (whose actual name is Las Vegas Boulevard) is 30 MPH. However, due to the high volume of cars and pedestrians at nearly every intersection, you will probably need to slow down considerably in order to safely navigate the strip.

To dodge heavy traffic in Las Vegas, avoid rush hour whenever possible. Rush hour in Vegas is from 7:00 AM - 9:00 AM and from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Either leave before rush hour starts, or depart after it ends. To avoid rough traffic on the Strip during weekends, head out earlier in the morning.

March is the busiest month in Las Vegas. The weather is very attractive to visitors as Las Vegas is usually warm and pleasant in the springtime when other places are still shivering in the snow. After March, the next busiest month is July, coinciding with summer vacation.

The Grand Canyon is 283 miles away from Las Vegas. That distance can be driven in 4 to 5 hours via I-40. Visiting the Grand Canyon while already in Vegas is a great way to check this amazing national park off your bucket list. Get a car rental from Avis to make it happen.

Even a single night on the Strip can be a thrilling experience, but to fully absorb everything Las Vegas has to offer, 3 to 5 days is probably the way to go. With that much time, you’ll be able to explore the casinos, eat at the best restaurants, and catch a show or two.
