Terms and Conditions

Prepay Rules
  • Retain your reservation confirmation number as it is necessary for modification, cancellation or no-show refund requests. Changes to your prepay reservation must be made either on Budget.com, Budget.com.au or Budget.co.nz or at the rental counter. At time of change, current rates, taxes and fees apply.
  • Your credit or debit card will be charged upon reservation confirmation. Method of prepayment toward your rental may not be changed after confirmation.
  • Debit cards are not accepted at some Budget locations and are not a recommended form of prepayment.
  • While a debit or prepaid charge card is an acceptable form of rental prepayment online, they may not be accepted for the credit hold required when you pick up your vehicle.
  • Please review the terms and conditions on our confirmation page regarding credit or debit card acceptance at the location. To release the vehicle to you at time of pick-up, all rental terms and conditions must be met, regardless of your original prepayment.
  • Prepaid Debit/Gift cards are not acceptable methods of credit identification to pick up a vehicle at any location. One of the above mentioned cards must be presented. Prepaid Debit/Gift cards are accepted at time of return only.
  • The same credit or debit card used to complete an online Pay Now reservation must be presented at the rental pick-up counter as a form of identification.
  • Generally, at the time of rental, we'll require an authorization hold on your credit card or debit card. A prepaid charge card is not accepted for this required hold.
  • The card presented at pickup will be the card of record for the rental.
  • If you use a debit card at a location that accepts them, we will perform a credit check to ensure credit worthiness before releasing the vehicle and you must also present a second form of current identification.
  • Prepaid reservations are only offered at participating locations.
  • Upon paying your rental with a Debit Card, Budget will generally request an authorization hold against your account for the estimated charges of the rental but reserves the right in its sole, discretion, to request extra value based on certain factors as we deem appropriate. Some exceptions may apply. THESE FUNDS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR YOUR USE.
  • If you selected Fuel Service Option, fuel price isn't included in your reservation total, but prevailing market rate will be added when you return your vehicle .
  • Budget accepts most major credit cards as credit identification at the time of rental. Accepted credit cards: Budget Charge Card, American Express, AT&T Capital, Diner's Club Intl, Discover, China Union Pay, GE Capital, JCB, MasterCard, PHH, Sears and Visa. Some locations may not accept each of the referenced cards.
  • Coupons may be applied to prepay rentals. Vouchers or Budget rental certificates cannot be used in conjunction with a prepay reservation.
  • Gift Cards (Budget or any other) are not allowed on prepay reservations.
  • When the rental is over, we will process the reversal but the bank may take time to post it back to the account - unless you already paid toward your rental, in which case the hold will be only $100 USD. While this hold is in place, the funds will not be available for your use.
  • Budget is not responsible for any returned checks or overdrafts based on this policy.
  • Your quoted rental rate is based on the exact parameters (locations, dates, etc.) of your particular rental - changing your confirmed reservation parameters could result in a different rate.
  • There is no fee for making the following changes: vehicle type, options (GPS, protections, etc.), rental period dates/times, adding other drivers, switching between participating prepay pick-up locations within the same country. To change to a non-participating location or one outside of the original pick-up country, you must cancel your original reservation (with applicable cancellation fee) and re-book at then current rates.
  • Non-permissible changes include: method of prepayment; name on reservation; changing your pick-up to a non-participating prepay location or one outside of the original pick-up country. If you still wish to make these changes, you must cancel your original prepay reservation with applicable cancellation fee and re-book at then current rates.
  • At time of rental pick-up, location rental qualification rules apply. The name on all rental credentials (license and credit or debit card) must match the name on the reservation. If the names do not match, it is deemed a non-permissible change to your prepay reservation and must follow procedures to cancel and re-book at then current rates (with applicable cancellation or no-show fees).
  • At the time of pick up, driver must present a valid driver's license and credit card (or debit card at participating locations) in the driver's name. A prepaid charge card is not an acceptable credential. All drivers must have a safe driving record.
  • At time of pick up, driver must present a valid, drivers license and credit or debit card in the driver's name. If the drivers license is not U.S.-issued, you must present your drivers license and either a passport or a Canadian enhanced license in the driver's name.
  • At the time of rental, the renter or authorized driver may be subject to an electronic DMV check from the issuing state of the driver's license, or may be asked to sign a declaration attesting to specific criteria.
  • Positive identification in addition to your driver's license may be required.
  • Your total rental rate is calculated based on the information provided at time of reservation.
  • Vehicles are rented on a daily (24-hour) basis. There is a 29-minute grace period for returns. After 30 minutes late, a 3/4-day late charge + $.01 + taxes apply. After 90 minutes late, full-day late charges + taxes apply. There is no grace period for rental fees, surcharges and optional equipment or protections charges, so full-day late charges will apply for these items.
  • Extensions or late returns result in additional charges.
  • Rather than requiring customers to be 25 to rent, Budget now rents to customers between the ages of 21-24 with a valid credit card and driver's license. At time of rental, we will automatically apply an additional underage surcharge for these drivers.
  • The collection, use and retention of your information, including your personally identifiable information, provided to us in connection with payment for our services and products, or participation in our programs, whether directly by you or on your behalf through a payment service, is subject to our Privacy Notice.

Cancellation Policy

  • Changes to a reservation must be done at Budget.com, Budget.com.au, or Budget.co.nz using the "Modify/Cancel" option.  Any changes to the reservation may impact the rental charges.  If a prepaid reservation is cancelled more than 24 hours before the pickup time, a $50.00 USD cancellation fee will be assessed.
  • If you need to cancel during the 24 hour period prior to the scheduled pick-up time, we will refund the full prepaid amount less a $150 USD processing fee. 
  • If you do not cancel the reservation prior to the time of pick-up and the rental vehicle is not picked up on the rental date, no portion of the prepaid amount will be refunded.
  • If you return the vehicle before the original return date (early return), you will not be refunded any portion of the payment.
  • All refund requests must be submitted within six months of the scheduled rental pick up date. No refunds will be granted after this six month window.
  • Underpayments will be handled at the counter at time of rental return. Unfortunately, we can't promise that your prepaid daily vehicle rate will apply if you change vehicle types, lengthen or shorten your rental period or change your pick up location.
  • Upon returning the vehicle, Budget will process a release of the unused portion of the hold subject to your bank's procedure. This hold may take up to two weeks to be released by your bank.
  • If you have already paid toward your rental using a debit card, we will reverse any hold when the rental is over. The bank, however, may take time to post it back to your account. While this hold is in place, the funds will not be available for your use.

Supplemental Liability Insurance

Supplemental Liability Insurance is not available at this location.

Optional Coverages

Damage Waiver

In most cases, Damage Waiver is provided with the vehicle as standard. If it is included, it will be stated on your Rental Agreement Form (and in your booking confirmation).

Damage Waiver reduces the amount you pay for each clearly separate incident of damage if the vehicle is damaged (or the amount you pay to replace any keys, accessories or vehicle documents that are lost, stolen or damaged).

The amount you pay for each clearly separate incident of damage will be the lower of a) the applicable cost payable under the Theft, Loss, and Damages Policy; or b) the excess stated on your Rental Agreement Form.

Normally between EUR 15.18 and EUR 25.30 per day (if not included as standard) If you rent the vehicle for more than 10 days, you will only be charged for a maximum of 10 days and get cover for the duration of your rental, up to 30 days.

Super Damage Waiver (SCDW)

An excess reduction product which reduces your damage waiver excess to zero (or, if higher, the amount shown on your Rental Agreement Form) on cars and EUR 400.00 (or, if higher, the amount shown on your Rental Agreement Form) on vans and minibuses. Normally between EUR 7.59 and EUR 10.63 per day (charged for a max 10 days to cover rental up to 30 days.).

Theft Protection waiver (TP)

In most cases, Theft Protection waiver is provided with the vehicle as standard. If it is included, it will be stated on your Rental Agreement Form (and in your booking confirmation).

Theft Protection waiver reduces the amount you pay if the vehicle is stolen during the rental period.

The amount you pay will be the lower of a) the applicable cost payable under the Theft, Loss, and Damages Policy; or b) the excess stated on your Rental Agreement Form. Normally between EUR 6.07 and EUR 10.11 per day (if not included as standard) charged for a max 10 days to cover rental up to 30 days.

Super Theft Protection waiver (STP)

An excess reduction product which reduces your theft protection excess to zero on cars and EUR 400.00 on vans and minibuses. Normally between EUR 7.59 and EUR 10.63 per day (charged for a max 10 days to cover rental up to 30 days.)

Windscreen protection
Windscreen Protection reduces the amount you have to pay if the windscreen is damaged to zero. Windscreen cover can be added to your booking when you pick up your vehicle from rental location. Normally EUR 8.10 per day
(Charged for a max 10 days to cover rental up to 30 days.).

Roadside Assistance Plus

This product provides roadside assistance without any additional costs being charged if you break down as a result of vehicle failure you have caused (this includes lost keys). Normally EUR 5.00 per day (charged for a max 10 days to cover rental up to 30 days).


Credit Card Policies

To approve and confirm the booking, the main driver must present a credit card in the driver's name at the pick-up. Credit card is required even if the reservation is paid beforehand.

We accept:

  • Mastercard
  • Visa
  • American Express

We do not accept cash, Diners-cards, Maestro-cards or prepaid credit cards.

We will take a deposit to cover any costs in case of damage or theft.
The amount is calculated based on (a) the estimated vehicle rental price, (b) plus the estimated price of all optional extras you've requested, (c) plus an amount to allow for any fuel you may use unless you buy Fuel Up Front, (d) less any amount the rental location accepts you have paid towards the rental when you booked.
Only Credit Cards are accepted for deposit. Payment by debit card is not permitted.


Debit Card Policies

Debit cards are not accepted.


Drivers License

Each driver must show proof of identity at the start of the rental. All drivers must present a full and current driving licence which has been held for at least 1 year. The licence must be valid for use in the renting country.
Drivers must bring an international driving licence or an official translation in the language of the country of rental if:

  • Their driving licence was issued in Europe and you are renting in a country outside Europe
  • Their driving licence was issued in a non-European country, and you are renting outside that country
  • Their driving licence was issued in a non-roman alphabet like Arabic, Chinese, Greek, Russian, Hebrew or Japanese (and other similar non-roman alphabet based languages)

Personal Accident Insurance

Personal Accident Insurance (PAI)

Covers the driver of the vehicle and personal items in the vehicle in the event of an accident. Personal Accident Insurance provides the following benefits:

  • A maximum of EUR 20,124.00 in the event of death or permanent total disability caused by an accident
  • A maximum of EUR 1,682.00 per accident towards medical expenses caused by an accident.


Normally EUR 4.06 per day (charged for a max 10 days to cover rental up to 30 days).


Public Liability and Property Damage

Additional Driver Policy

Additional Driver must meet the same requirement as the primary driver. Must be present at the time of pickup. The price is EUR 5.06 per day, maximum 10 day charge to cover rental up to 30 days.


Age Requirements

Minimum Age:   Drivers license must have been held for at least one year to rent. Maximum Age: None


Delivery and Collection

Delivery and collection services are available on weekdays between the hours of 9am and 4pm within city limits.
The cost is EUR 45.00 for delivery and EUR 45.00 for collection.

Collecting and Returning Your Car
The driver must present proof of identity when collecting the vehicle. Please see the Driving Licence/ID Requirements section for more information.
During Office Hours
If you are delayed and arrive outside of office hours due to a delayed flight no additional charge will apply. This only applies if you enter your flight number when booking.
If you are late we will guarantee your rental for 3 hours. After this time your reserved car may be released and rented to another customer.
Out of Office Hours - Collection
It may be possible to collect the vehicle out of office hours. This must be requested at the time of booking.
The charge for this service is EUR 35.00. This service is not available if the rental is booked online and is only available at airport locations.
We need the following information when you make your booking.
Flight number
Credit card details
If you do not collect the vehicle a "No Show" charge of EUR 65 will apply.
Out of Office Hours - Return
If the vehicle is returned outside of office hours the driver is liable for damage or theft until the car has been inspected by a member of Budget staff. This applies to parking fees, too.
You may return the vehicle out of hours if you request this at the time of booking. There is no charge for this service.
Late Return
Unless agreed differently, all customers must return the vehicle and any optional extras at the time/date and location stated on their rental agreement. If the customer believes they will be late, it is in their best interest to request an extension from us. If the customer is then late in returning their vehicle ,they must pay for an extra day's rental for the vehicle and any optional extras plus a late return processing fee for each day/part of a day they are late. The processing fee is EUR18.60 or the equivalent amount in the renting country currency.


Estimated Totals

Estimated total includes base rate, taxes, and surcharges. Items such as coupon discounts, child safety seats and gas are NOT included in the estimated total. Optional coverages and one-way fees are subject to tax in certain locations. This tax is not reflected in the Estimated Total.

Estimated total is subject to change based upon exchange rates at the time of rental.


Fuel Policy

Returning the vehicle

Unless you agreed a different refuelling option (see below), you must return the vehicle to us with the same amount of fuel it had in it when you picked it up usually a full tank as shown on the factory-installed fuel gauge or automatically logged in respect of connected cars. We recommend you fill up as close to the return location as you can on the return date and keep the receipt to show us. If you don’t return the vehicle with a full tank and you can't show us a receipt for fuel we will charge you.

Refuelling options
Fuel Up Front
- this is charged according to our valid price list at the start of your rental period as stated on http://www.budget.fi/en/pricelist . This is only available where you have added it as an option at booking stage, or asked to add it to your rental prior to you collecting the vehicle. If you have added this option, the cost will be on your Rental Agreement Form. However, you don't get a refund for any fuel you don't use.

Pay on Return - If you are renting a traditional fuel or hybrid vehicle, you will be required to pay for fuel so as to ensure that the vehicle has the same amount as when you collected it based on the factory-installed fuel gauge rounded down to the nearest eighth (1/8) of a tank (costs are based on the manufacturer's stated fuel tank capacity). We charge according to our valid price list at the end of the rental period.


Electric Vehicles

 

We charge a fixed amount dependent on the battery life showing on the factory-installed battery gauge. This is the "Pay on Return" rate. The amounts charged are set out below:

* Unless the vehicle had less than 70% battery charge when you collected it, in which case, you must return it with at least the same % battery charge as it had at time of pick-up in order for no additional costs to be applied.

 


Location Exceptions

Additional drivers must meet the same requirements as the primary driver. There is a charge of 8.00 EUR (tax included) per rental.


Travel Into Other Countries

Only allowed into Sweden, Norway and Denmark.Fee is EUR 75.00 per rental.
